    Enjoy your channel and thanks for the content. I need to watch more than the few I have. I spent a few years camping in Baja on and off some 40 years ago. Maybe Mexico is another option. Just built a home in the Phillipines for under $70,000 and the thought of a place in Mexico to spend part of the year and also see my kids seems like a good idea but property seems costlier there. I thought you couldn't buy land in Mexico, has that changed in the last 40 years?

    Having lived overseas for 20 years, and being a lawyer, it is obvious that one must inquire about wills in another country. y husband died in France. But in France, a handwritten will was enough as well as choosing the USA as our jurisdiction and not France. But in Mexico, you need a Mexican will if you purchase property.

    The entire premise of this video is flawed. All of what is said is relative to Americans experience in tourist towns vs the reality of mexican society. Violence of all kinds is much higher, not just organized crime. The same reason violence is worse in mexican areas in USA than in white areas. Mexico is more violent, period. Anyone saying anything else is either lying or delusional. A simple google search and a basic understanding of statistics can verify this. The part about healthcare, same thing. The healthcare system is most certainly 3rd world. There are private clinics which can be anywhere from terrible to awesome, depending on how much you pay. Most expats will be in tourist areas and pay for top notch everything and then not understand when people say bad things about mexico that are objectively verifiable and easily observeable

      It could be a great answer for both of you! Medicare won't be an option for her. Social Seciryt will pay (but Supplemental Security Income will not.) Pension shouldn't be a problem. Most people self-insure because hospitals are inexpensive. If she plans to have lots of procedures to keep her alive, that might get expensive. But if she wants to be comfortable until it's her time, that could be good. Residency can be tricky.

    Thank you for this video. I'm trying to decide between Spain and Mexico as I lived in Spain long long ago. But Mexico is close to the US, if need to return for any reason. Having said that I |am getting the feeling from RUclipsrs Mexicans are much friendlier and accepting Americans/Canadians for the most part vs Spain. I watched another RUclipsr where someone was focusing on the dangers of female expats being murdered in Ecuador or Mexico. One murder in a Latin American country vs 19,000 Americans killed by mass shootings. comments indicated ex pats tend to hear what they want as this "American" ignores the mass shootings in the USA. Try figuring out that logic! Perhaps I will take an exploratory trip to Mexico and move forward. (my real con about Mexico is the scorpions--- yes I am so very petrified at this bug for some odd reason. Mexico has the most scorpions of any country) Yes, I need to figure out my own logic... LOL. Thanks again for the real BS factors-truth be known. America: unstable government, worst politics ever, everyday mass shootings, unaffordable health care (root canal and crown here - $3000) etc. etc. etc. Oh yes, Americans forget that the cartels have "hubs" or distribution centers in every major US city already but for some reason they ignore this fact too.

Would she still get SSI? and pension? Insurance? Residency there? She doesn't know any of that, nor do I so.. Just seems like a LOT to do and or figure out.. Already exhausted. Coming from someone who lives on the border, what you’re peddling is dangerous for people who listen to you. Driving in Mexico is not safe. You fail to mention that.

    • @AlmostRetiredinMexico
      @AlmostRetiredinMexico 3 дня назад

      Which side of the border do you live on? Have you experienced violence on the roads? I’m currently in Tijuana and I feel totally safe (during the day.) I wouldn’t wander late at night but I wouldn’t do that in US cities either. I’ll agree that border areas tend to be less safe, but nothing like the US media likes to suggest.

    • @greggwendorf2223
      @greggwendorf2223 3 дня назад

      @@AlmostRetiredinMexico Here is a simple litmus test. Currently, I'm in McAllen. I would hop in my truck at midnight and drive anywhere in the U.S. on any roadway. At night, or even in the day anymore, I would not drive my F-150 anywhere in Mexico, except possibly the toll road to Monterrey. Flying into a city and staying put, not a big problem Travel by road, however, is a big problem. Anyone who says you can travel freely in Mexico at night is either lying or a fool. That's how you define a safe country vs. one currently soaked in blood: travel at night.

    • @greggwendorf2223
      @greggwendorf2223 3 дня назад

      If anything, the mainstream media in the US, along with the Mexican government, downplays the degree of violence in Mexico. In the state of Tamaulipas, cartel gunmen are stopping public buses traveling south, lookinng for American passengers. When they find them, they take them off the bus and hold them for ransom. If you Google iit, you can find the most recent State Delpartment warning for travelers and bus passengers.

    Thank you for sharing your story! You are a lovely couple and Mexico is a better place for having you. Thank you for being so careful about how you build to help blend into the environment there. We spent a lot of time in Southern Baja (we were from Northern California) but ended up buying in Bucerias Nayarit in 2019. We are out of town in an old Mango orchard and the property had a garage with a one bedroom casita above, and an additional guest casita. We were lucky to build a third home on the property shortly after we moved here so built before the cost of building rose. We have made great friends here, both immigrants like us and natives and LOVE where we live. Although I could easily live on the East Cape or Loreto the choice for us came down to having access to a large airport (in the hopes friends and family would travel here easily) and a variety of different places to visit by car near us. We have really enjoyed visiting the cities in the Central highlands for instance. We wish you the very best of luck in your new home!
